Early life and education




Black Sherif, whose real name is Mohammed Ismail Sharrif, was born on January 9, 2002, in Konongo-Zongo, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He grew up in a musical family, as his maternal grandfather Benson Idonije was a former manager of Fela Kuti, the legendary Nigerian musician and activist. He also had a passion for music from a young age, and started making his own beats using FL Studio when he was 10 years old.


He attended Konongo Zongo Islamic Basic School and Pinamang Educational Complex for his basic education. He then completed his secondary education at Kumasi Academy, where he developed an interest in music and dancing. He later enrolled at the University of Professional Studies in Accra (UPSA), where he studied marketing. He is currently studying media communications and culture at Oxford Brookes University in England.
